Description
Firstly the Lark is 14 minutes long but dont let this put you off,it is the most innovative piece of music your ever likely to hear in an Irish sense, this particular track is made up of 7 different pieces all incorporated into a continious rampage of Uillean pipes(Davy Spillane)Saxaphone(Keith Donald)Bozouki(Donal Lunny)Bass Guitar(Eoin o Neill)Drums and Percussion (Matt Kelligan&Noel Eccles). To say these musicians are the greatest Ireland ever produced is almost an understatement,Titanic track 2 features Keith Donald in particular on fire as he blasts some fine music from his Sax.Track 3 the title track again features similar explosions from each member contributing their own memorable pieces,track4 Tribute to Peadar O Donnell is another 9 minute masterpiece, finally the hauntingly beauitiful May Morning Dew would make any strong man cry,the emotion in Davy Spillanes playing has never been matched by any other piper to my knowledge, all in all this album first recorded back in the late 80s has stood the test of time, and in my opinion is the album which prompted the success of Riverdance,Buy this album cherish it listen without doubt to a collectors item, there likes will not be seen again.
